CESC : BUDGE BUDGE GENERATING STATION
Budge Budge Generating Station   is a landmark in the history of CESC Limited because of its state of the art tecnology in installed equipments. The capacity of the Station is 500 MW comprising of two units, each rated at 250 MW. Boilers are of A.B.B make with unique features of  Low NOX downshot type, capable of burning low grade coal and also capable of two shift operation. The Turbo-Alternators are of P.T.G.L make with salient features of Fast loading / unloading capability, Fire resistant hydraulic Governing System, Quick response to sudden change in Grid, Microprocessor control and Stable operation under loss of Load on Trip through automatic 'HP-LP Steam bypass'. This Station is also equipped with 'Zero Discharge' in bottom ash through hydraulic conveying followed by separation of clear water for reusing.
BBGS has recorded about 94% of  PAF (Plant Availability Factor) in 2000-2001. It may be noted that in 1999-2000 the best Indian PAF was 90% (BSES) and the best international PAF was 95% (Florida Power & Light, USA).
