Southern Generating Station won 2nd Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Award for implementing Zero Discharge System in 1994.
Southern Generating Station won ITC Annual Award (Eastern Region) and Certificate of merit from CII, given or safety in the years (1995-96), (1996-97) and (2000-01).
Southern Generating Station achieved ISO 9002 Certification in 1997, given for Quality Sytsem for Generation of Electricity. Recertification of ISO 9002 was also awarded in 2000.
New Cossipore Generating Station obtained ITC award for Safety in 1994.
