CESCNET:In the process of establishing a company wide Digital Nervous System comprising a high speed optical fibre based communication back bone between the central station located at CESC’s headquarters and full fledged Local Area Networks at 17 other major establishments of CESC spread over 567 sq.kms. in and around Kolkata. 

The technology deployed are a) Single mode optical fibre network terminated at either ends through Gigabit Ethernet based layer-3 switches and other concomitant networking equipment as primary backbone and b) secondary backbone using UTP based LANs terminating on high speed switches seamlessly integrating with the primary optical fibre back bone. 

The Services offered with the infrastructure are a) Enabling ERP in the organisation, b) Global email system, c) File / Data transfer, d) Access to Corporate intranet websites, e) Round the clock Internet services, f) Desktop video conferencing / net meetings, and g) Enabling VoIP

Apart from CESCNET and RPGNET related activities and responsibilities, other major activities that can be undertaken are i) Web Services – Amongst the project already executed are the design and development of RPGNET.COM (the Group’s live website on the Internet), ii)  External consultancy jobs - within and beyond the RPG group in the areas of network development, intranet deployment, e-mail services etc. Amongst the satisfied clients for whom jobs have already been completed are RPG Enterprises, Woodlands Nursing Home, RPG Cables, Harrisons Malayalam, National Informatics Centre, Phillips Carbon Black etc..
